Adventures for all ages

A sensational hiking area awaits the entire family on the Schmittenhöhe, Zell am See’s landmark mountain. The wonderful routes are easy to negotiate. Stroll along the promenade trail or on the Pinzgau Walking Path. The Sisi circuit path on the Schmittenhöhe is worth a visit too. How about a bigger challenge? Immerse yourself in the exciting realm of the Hohe Tauern on the Kitzsteinhorn in Kaprun. Hiking guides will take you on a tour through the rocks, ice and low temperatures. The Maiskogel family mountain in Kaprun is located deep in the valley and offers more wonderful hiking trails through Pinzgau’s grass mountains. Take some time to enjoy a leisurely rest in a typical Austrian inn. Reinvigorated with a traditional snack, your hike will go all the better.

We will be glad to provide you with additional hiking suggestions for Zell am See and the surrounding mountain regions.

What would an active holiday at the Schmittenhof be without cycling or mountain biking in Zell am See. Hundreds of marked kilometres between glacier, mountain and lake await athletes and leisurely riders. From relaxed cycle tours through the valley to challenging mountain bike tours on routes marked out in green on the respective signposts – there’s something for everyone. Or you can opt for a longer road bike tour along the Tauern Cycle Trail.

On the Kitzsteinhorn, you will also come across the Geissstein Trail, Wüstlau Trail and Bachler Trail, with different levels of difficulty. Jumps, wide bends and challenging sections will set your heart racing.

Don’t miss out on a little cooling off: Lake Zell, one of the cleanest and most beautiful lakes in the country is nearby, with water of drinking quality. With three public pools around the lake, you can look forward to non-stop swimming fun for the entire family.

A trip to the lake is best combined with a hiking or cycling tour. What could be nicer after an adventure packed excursion on the mountain than jumping into the cool waters? Bring your day to a relaxing close.
